GALLERY OF STUDENT WORK

FOIL ANIMALS. For this project we first looked at animals in art, specifically Andrew Weyth's "The Hare" and Albrecht Dürer's "Rhinoceros." The students were then shown how to use basic ovals and circles to set up the size and placementof the chosen animal (COMPOSITION). Once the students got the animal drawn out, it was easily transfered to the tooling foil. The rest of the project objectives included Color Schemes and Texture.  It's important to cover the surface with tight texture designs so the permanent marker appears less streaky. Another major focus of the project is balance- for example, in Jaime's Dog center below, the turquoise star like pattern ears balance with snout and chest to bring the viewers eye around the whole space. There can also be a focal point, like the slightly warmer tone in Abby's Eagle's beak and the black facial features in Vincent's Shark stand out. The students evaluated their work based on Realistic Drawing Skill/Craftsmanship, Composition, Explaination of Color Choices,  Explaination of Texture Choices and Effort/Engagement Learning.
